Johan and Gisèle - Tanzania Wilderness Safari 2026
The Tanzania Wilderness Safari was our first experience travelling with Ingrid. Based on her publications and photography, we thought she would be an interesting choice, and the actual experience more than confirmed our expectations. The organisation was flawless and thoroughly prepared. We received excellent information beforehand, including an information meeting, detailed documents and photography guidelines. The accommodation was carefully selected, either close to or within the national parks, and usually in beautiful locations. The lodges were pleasant, with varying levels of comfort depending on what was available locally.
Ingrid clearly has a natural talent for teaching. She checked everyone's camera settings individually, suggesting adjustments to the basic settings where necessary. She also organised photo review sessions, providing individual feedback on our images and suggestions for improvement. During the game drives, she regularly offered advice on camera settings, which was shared between the two jeeps.
What particularly stood out was that Ingrid gave everyone equal attention. On previous trips with other photographer-guides, the amount of guidance often depended on how assertive the participants were — you had to ask for it yourself. Sometimes, certain participants were simply assumed to be experienced enough not to need any further explanation.
We especially appreciated Ingrid's consideration for participants with mobility difficulties. In Tanzania, getting into minibuses (such as airport transfers) or 4x4 safari vehicles often involves climbing steps of 40 cm or more. Unlike in some other African countries, portable steps are not automatically available. As soon as Ingrid learned about my wife's mobility difficulties, she took the initiative to arrange for a folding step to be provided in Tanzania, solving the problem. She also made sure our accommodation was located close to the reception areas. The 4x4 drivers were informed as well and were extremely helpful. They also had outstanding knowledge of wildlife and an exceptional ability to spot animals in time. On top of that, they were highly skilled at positioning their vehicles to offer the best photographic compositions and backgrounds. They were tireless, spending up to ten hours a day on the road with us, while still having to clean and prepare their vehicles afterwards. Wonderful people — incredibly friendly and highly professional.
The trip — or perhaps we should call it an intensive working week — was certainly exhausting, but also incredibly rewarding. We returned home with beautiful photographs, wonderful memories and a strong desire to do it all again!
