On 12 September, I set off on safari with Ingrid to Solio and Samburu. I had already been to Kenya before with another organisation, and that experience left me wanting more. My expectations were high, but they were exceeded by far. Absolutely everything was perfect, right down to the smallest details. I honestly cannot think of a single thing that could have been done better. I already knew Ingrid from years ago — I once attended one of her workshops — and even then I had made up my mind: one day, I had to go on safari with her. Her passion for Africa, her knowledge of nature and the animals that live there, and of course her photographic expertise are truly exceptional. And she is also supported by two fantastic drivers, Amos and Geoffrey, who always made sure we were in exactly the right place at exactly the right time. These guys are simply incredible. They see everything and know everything about the area and the animals that live there. Would I recommend this trip to anyone? What do you think? My next safari with Ingrid has already been booked!

It was an amazing, incredibly beautiful and intense week. An experience we will never forget, and thanks to you, we were able to enjoy every moment of it to the fullest. As the partner of an amateur photographer and an avid birdwatcher myself, I dipped into my savings to join this safari. And I certainly didn’t regret it! With a good pair of image-stabilised binoculars, I was able to enjoy the incredible and wonderfully diverse wildlife up close and in great detail. I may not have captured any photographs myself, but the African wilderness is now firmly etched in my heart and in my memory. Apart from the animals and the breathtaking landscapes, there were the incredibly comfortable lodges, the delicious food beautifully presented with a real sense of artistry, and the warm hospitality of the Kenyan staff. The jeep drivers knew an incredible amount about nature and knew the area like the back of their hands. With their eagle eyes, they managed to spot every animal. Travelling with Ingrid makes you forget all your everyday worries. Her genuine, caring, knowledgeable and humorous personality immediately puts everyone at ease. A journey I will never forget — and one that already has me looking forward to the next one...

Aberdare Country Club — the first day of my first safari. Around noon, Amos and Geoffrey drop us off at the entrance to the main building. They turn out to be Ingrid’s ‘dream team’, and that description is spot on. Besides being drivers, they are also wildlife guides, trackers and storytellers — and, above all, they have an incredible talent for spotting animals. “Owl in that tree, to the right, behind that bush.” “Kudu hiding in the bushes on the left.” “Where? I can’t see it!” “Wait, I’ll reverse a little.” “Leopard’s leg dangling from that big tree over there.” And that last one is some 30 to 40 metres away from the jeep! At the Country Club, you can wander around freely, as there are no predators on the grounds. There are some very approachable bushbuck and impala. A little further on, a first dik-dik slips away between the bushes. Damn, I pressed the shutter too late! Little did I know that dik-diks would become one of the recurring themes of this incredibly beautiful story. Further away from the buildings, on an open plain, there is more to see: several zebras in the distance among the trees — my first beautiful wildlife photograph. Then there are a few warthogs, including a magnificent male with a beautiful mane, and a troop of baboons. It is wonderful to watch the dynamics of such a troop, especially as there are a few females with newborn babies among them — an extremely high ‘cuteness factor’! The afternoon ends with two black-and-white colobus monkeys, swinging effortlessly from treetop to treetop, just as monkeys do. Very difficult to photograph, but look: one shot actually turns out sharp. Hooray! And this, as it turns out, is only the appetiser for an intoxicating, brilliantly organised journey. From the very beginning, it is crystal clear that Ingrid has an enormous amount of experience. A hundred times ‘Asante sana’ (thank you), Amos, Geoffrey and Ingrid!

For many years, I had dreamed of going on a photographic safari in Africa, especially to photograph the Big Five. But for various reasons, it had never happened — until now. I had been following Ingrid for years through her website and newsletters, and I compared her trips with those offered by others. It didn’t take long for me to make my decision: the chance of making my dream come true was clearly greatest with Ingrid Vekemans, thanks to her many years of experience. After signing up, we received an enormous amount of useful information and practical tips. We got to know our fellow travellers and Ingrid, and then, on 12 September 2026, we stepped onto the tarmac at Nairobi Airport. From that moment onwards, an unforgettable holiday began — one that far exceeded even my wildest dreams. Everything was planned and organised down to the very last detail, with clear briefings, advice on camera settings and photographic compositions, beautiful accommodation and delicious food. We travelled in two spacious Land Rovers, specially equipped for photography, driven by Ingrid’s regular drivers, Geoffrey and Amos. Besides having eagle eyes, they seemed to possess several other senses unknown to me, allowing them to find animals hidden in the vast parks, all while maintaining an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity. There is not a single negative or disappointing point I can mention about this trip. That is why I have such enormous respect for Ingrid. Thank you a thousand times, Ingrid! I’ll be booking my second photographic safari with you very soon.

Another success story! The adventure begins the moment you collect your luggage in Nairobi. Thanks to Ingrid’s flawless organisation, you can simply relax and enjoy this photography safari without a care in the world. The itinerary takes you through a wonderful succession of locations, starting with an introduction in Aberdare, where you get the chance to photograph some of the less shy animals. The following day, it’s on to Solio, a true rhino paradise, and then to Samburu. Excellent accommodation and delicious food are just the beginning of the pampering. The experienced guides, wildlife spotters and drivers take you to the very best wildlife viewing spots in the region. Ingrid’s photography tips take your images to the next level. We saw not only the Big Five (actually six, if you include the cheetah), but also witnessed their behaviour in action: hunting, mating and raising their young. The region’s Special Five are an additional photographic challenge: the Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, vulturine guineafowl, gerenuk and oryx. A journey that will stay with you for a very long time.

A first time in East Africa, a first time on a real photo safari, a first time on a trip with Ingrid. It had been on my wish list for a while, but can all these new combinations end well? After ten days, the answer can be very short: YES! I have learned a lot again, from immediately usable tips about settings in a certain situation to deeper analyses and finding solutions ... Ingrid is always available. A driven lady with a pronounced knowledge of photography and African fauna. Also all the lodges, the good and abundant food, and the fantastic drivers should not be overlooked. An experience that I cannot forget quickly, but that sets the bar very high for future trips.

As far as I'm concerned, there are three reasons to go on safari with Ingrid. First of all, Ingrid is a very good photographer with a style that appeals to me. Even if you are already somewhat experienced, like me, you can still learn a lot from her. Secondly, Ingrid is constantly busy for the group from very early in the morning until late at night. She tries to help everyone and does that well. And last but not least, Ingrid is just a very nice, sociable woman who always ensures a good atmosphere during the trip.
In any case, I have loads of beautiful photos to go through.

This was our 3rd safari with Ingrid and it only gets better with the years. All the good things that have been said about her in previous testimonials, we can only fully confirm. Friendly, professional, always busy, nothing is too much for her, in short a great lady!!! Everything was arranged perfectly, both the lodges and the game drives! The jeeps were spacious, so enough space to manoeuvre with all those lenses. Thanks to the skilled and experienced drivers, Pierrette was able to capture the famous Big 5 after the 2nd day. This thanks to the professional tips and technical advice from Ingrid, the rest was optional!!! Also about the lodges: they were, each in their own way, great!! There was a swimming pool everywhere (there was not much time, but still). In Surana we even had a small private pool at the back of our lodge!! After lunch Ingrid still found the time to do a photo discussion with the photographers now and then. Even with me, as a non-photographer, my mobile phone photos were discussed! I now know how to straighten my horizon, etc. etc. ;0) So, on to the next safari! According to Pierrette, this has already been booked with Ingrid!

Top! Even though it wasn't my first safari - this one was unique! Apart from the good company, the beautiful lodges, the wonderful nature... it is undoubtedly Ingrid's permanent presence that makes this photo safari into an unforgettable experience. Her patience, her knowledge of Africa and her professional guiding are unbeatable. Thank you Ingrid!

Read an article in Shoot end November about photo trips, with a referral to Ingrid Vekemans. Did some research and decided to book beginning of December. From the first meeting in May until we said our goodbyes, everything was well organised. You'd even think the wildlife was arranged... certainly worth repeating.

Untouched Africa 2017 was a big adventure for us even before it started. But it turned out to be a fantastically beautiful adventure and a great success. Especially thanks to the excellent coaching by Ingrid. She manages to share her knowledge and photographic professionalism very well. And we learned a lot from that. Also my husband, who joined as a non-photographer, turned out to participate in the photography enthusiastically, thanks to Ingrid's guidance, which is fantastic both in the field of photography and that of safari. And also thanks to a fun group of fellow travellers this holiday has been amazing. Thanks Ingrid and hopefully to be repeated.

A big thank you for the trip, it was fantastic and very well organised. Everything was perfect!! The food was just delicious, the crew was just fantastic! Explanations of the optimal camera settings were well communicated during all days of the trip. Review of the daily taken pictures was inspiring and motivating for me to start the next day with a new challenge and a new angle of photographing wildlife.

If you want an exciting safari adventure, join Ingrid. Patiently she teaches you the trics to make better photos. Always willing to arrange things and to help. The third safari with Ingrid was again a great success. To say it in olympic terms: I joined 13 safaris total and Ingrid's safaris won gold, silver and bronze effortlessly and miles ahead of the 10 others! However, a photo finish is needed to attribute the three medals... All 3 without exception had a high level of comfort (accommodation, food, jeep), good drivers, a fantastic atmosphere and the unlimited patient explanations of Ingrid (about photography, animals, Africa,...) I have learnt a lot yet again! Only personal preferences for specific parks and animals will decide on the order of the medals, and those are different for everybody..in any case this trip is highly recommended!

“Untouched Africa” was the third safari that I had the pleasure of doing with Ingrid. And again I had the feeling that this safari exceeded the others. This partly because I was able to spot and photograph animals that were still on my bucket list. Did that make it a better safari? With all three safaris I had the same wow-experience. This is in part due to the good guidance and the gorgeous accommodations, but also the photographic help of Ingrid who knows how to make you push your boundaries.

My first safari was a real hit, exhausting but so much fun. The organisation was great to the last detail, the lodges/tents were clean, luxurious, comfortable. The food was delicious, healthy and prepared with great care. The division in the jeeps (4 people per jeep) gave everybody enough space to spot the animals and take photos. All this would not have been possible without the professional help of INGRID. She makes you push your boundaries, discusses your photos with the necessary critical comments, knows or finds out how your camera works. Her simplicity and modesty adorn her. Her patience, her knowledge about animals and photography, her good mood and her simple explanations ensure that her safaris stand out. Thanks Ingrid, it was just SUPER, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and I have learned and practised a lot. And last but not least... this safari will not be the last!
